It is possible for me to finish a
2 HOURS high rope challenges in just 30 MINUTES??

Date: 4 January, 2009

Time: 8 to 9 am

Venue: Taman Pertanian Bukit Cahaya, Shah Alam

Description of my project:

WHAT is this event?
-I am hopping, climbing, swinging, zipping from station to station. And all the challenges are as high as 17 METERS off the ground! Can you imagine that?!!

-The most exciting part is to overcome acrophobia (fear of heights) in 30 minutes!

WHY am I Doing This Event?

-It is a good chance to test out my own limit, both of my physical and mental.

-While fund-raising for my Sabah Expedition, I am also doing something that I am interested in.

HOW to support me and the Sabah community?
-If I can do it in 30 minutes, support me RM20;
-If 20 minutes, support me RM 25;
-If 10 minutes, support me RM 30;
-But you are most welcome if you wish to contribute more!=p

WHAT IF
I do not complete the task in 30 minutes, I, Chan Mun Mun, will volunteer my service (cleaning service) to Zoo Negara every 3 months up to a year, upon return from my expedition.

MY SABAH EXPEDITION

I believe that in this expedition, I will have a chance to develop into a more socially responsible person and discover the skills of a lifetime that will enable me to give more back to the society and environment in the future.

ALL YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS WILL BENEFIT THE COMMUNITY & ENVIRONMENT.

Your contribution can be attention to me through CASH

Meetings after meetings, planning over planning………

24/11/2008
“This is a morning that made us all anxious. It’s our first time doing this. We, the amateurs, were ready, to rock HELP College with those Big Apple donuts, cupcakes, and SPCA stuff. Yes! We were ready..”

That was when we woke very early in the morning, putting on our Raleigh t-shirt, looking at the mirror, talking to ourselves. On this day, we planned to set up a booth at KPDA of HELP College to fundraise for SPCA. We were ready, yet, we were not ready for an unforeseen situation. Cheryl needs to fetch dino and her cupcakes from cheras, and she got lost on the way to cheras (Cheryl has phobia driving to cheras since then) and her car was stuck at jusco maluri. And our hero-of-the-day, Richard arrived at Jusco Maluri on time to save us out, while we were in despair..(haha!!).

So, we were late setting up the booth. We started at around 12 after picking up donuts from midvalley.

The clock is ticking, and it’s scary when you still see dozens and boxes of cupcakes behind you, piling up like a monster, stirring up our nerves all the time.

Its around 4pm now, so, we decided using the mobile selling strategy. Somehow, it worked. Approaching people, boy girls, young and old, black or white, whatever they looked like, as long as we sensed their desire for the donuts. We were like the “predators”, the public were our “preys”. We roared like tiger when we saw one is near.

We roared (gently): “ hello, miss/sir, we are from Raleigh International Kuala Lumpur, and we are selling Big Apple Donuts to fundraise for the SPCA, society for the prevention of cruelty to animals. Would you like to buy some donuts ?”

Or when we get frustrated, we just yell out to the public: “ Big apple Donuts for sale !!! “ And somehow, it worked too.

Gosh, it’s nearly 6pm, yet, we still had 3dozens of donuts….Then, our savior-of-the-day, our president Mr.Loh bought that 3dozens from us. OH my oh my, we called it a day, finally. Tomorrow comes another battle….

Credits to Richard and Cheryl, because they helped to sell donuts and cupcakes at their own college.

And this day, we finished early, yeah !!!!!! Around 5pm, we were off from that hell hole, hahaha!!!

Why ?? because we learnt our lessons, we are no longer amateurs, we are skilled promoters now. Besides we changed few flavors of the donuts, from the not-so-hot to the hot ones! So, the crowd love’em.

26/11/2008

Blimey!! It went even faster today; the crowd was like crazy for the cupcakes and donuts. Perhaps, when one tells the other about the donuts and cupcakes, the news spread exponentially. We finished half of everything around 12pm and everything officially at 4pm!!

So, all well ended well.

Now, here comes the most anticipated part, the calculation of the “ka-ching”, the money we fund raised.

And the total is….(drums drumming)…..tadah !! RM 1100, for selling donuts and cupcakes.

It’s been some tough experience, since physical and mental strength were needed when we planned for a fund raising event.

But all the hard work paid-off when we see the fruit of our work.

A big thank you to:

SPCA volunteering day 29/11/200

Wow!! For all these days we’ve waited, it finally came. The day that all of our dreams came true, to get close to those kitty and doggie. SPCA is like small sanctuary for kitty and doggie. Though the animals might not look as pretty or well-shaped as those pets at home, they are well fed and kept in comfortable kennels. They were given the utmost attention from the volunteers who has been working there for some years and has been working as full-time volunteer.

There is a lady, Aunty Rose, who is so passion in what she is doing. She was the one who guided us for our volunteering job. So, she told us, our task for that day is TO BATH ALL THE DOGS !!!! so now, start imagine, not one, but a bunch of dogs getting near you and sniff out of you and might just scare you some times though they didn’t mean to scare you, but you were just scarring yourselves!

Alright alright, I’ve been long winded. Pictures say a thousand works.

The end.
