Tong Tong Chiang !

CNY is less than a week away, and there will be loads of eating, drinking and merry making sessions for sure. To get rid of the extra calories, we will be heading to Sungai Pisang this 12^th of February for Raleigh KL’s February Monthly Meet! But before trekking and dipping at the waterfall (oh yes, that’s our ultimate goal!), we will be doing our bit for the environment – collecting trash. Also, there will be exciting updates from the OC of Post GBB’s yet to be named walk and PIWP reports and announcements!

Here’s the plan.

7.35am: Meet up at Gombak LRT station - Registration

8.00am: All cars leave for Sungai Pisang

(Not 7.59am, not 8.01am. We leave at 8.00am SHARP.)

8.20am: Monthly Meet & Briefing

9.00am: Clean up

11.00am: Short walk to the waterfall

11.45pm: Dip all you want & snacks

1.45pm: The walk back

2.30pm: Depart Sungai Pisang OR Surprise! (Optional)

When is it again? 12^th February 2011

What should I bring? A pair of gloves, mess tin.

Do I need to pay? Yes! RM5 for members. RM8 for non-members.

Small token that covers petrol and light snacks.

Raleigh KL needs to be sustainable, for now and most importantly, for future generations to come.

And of course, no matter what organisation you are from, funds are needed to run it.

Hence, we want to be BOLD, at least once.

To plan and organise "A Walk", to fund raise for OUR organisation - Raleigh KL.

The first ever pilot project will be launched this year - 2011.

This fund raising event is an inspiration from our regional sister support groups:

Raleigh Hong Kong's Wilson Trail & Raleigh Singapore's "Let's take a Walk".

This meeting will be an open discussion where everyone can attend and be actively involved.

No hierarchy, forget your real age / "Raleigh-age", we just need to start talking to each other and work to make this happen - TOGETHER.

If you are interested in being part of this project (be it contributing ideas, sharing contacts, or just want to know more), we sincerely invite you to come for this meeting.

And also for you to understand the 5 Ws and 1H better.

Of course, we will also have the usual monthly meeting agenda + a special "Going Beyond Borders" Presentation!

Hey guys,

Have u ever observe the smile children had on their faces while merely just eating ice-cream?

Fell the simple innocent joy and the genuine sound of children's laugher?

So, this is the idea.

We'll work out together, as a team to benefit HOUSE OF JOY and give ice-cream to these underprivileged children, orphans to put a smile on their faces!!!

1-DAY MUDHUT COMMUNITY PROJECT
Date: 9 January 2011 (Sunday)
Time: 7am-7pm
*Volunteers are to meet up at Terminal Putra station by 7am sharp
Location: Kampung Cottage, 55th mile Gombak (heading towards the Orang Asli Museum)
Aim: To build mudhuts for a Community Sustainability Learning Center and organic farm.
We need volunteers to:
- Collect MUD!
- Organize the mud brick mixing area
- Build brick moulds
- Make mud bricks
For safety purposes, volunteers are advised to wear:
- long pants
- long sleeves
- shoes (you can bring along slippers/sandals to change after the event)
- caps/hats
- cotton work gloves
Also, bring along:
- EXTRA CLOTHES ('coz you will be guarateed to get dirty!)
- 2 x 1.5litre drinking water (or more)
- Snacks
- Cutleries for lunch (paper plates, fork, spoon. No polystyrene please)
- Personal supply of plasters and medication
Fees mechanism:
Members (paid Raleigh members): RM 7
Non-members: RM10
*for lunch & transportation; extras will be donated to Raleigh Kuala Lumpur
