CNY is less than a week away, and there will be loads of eating, drinking and merry making sessions for sure. To get rid of the extra calories, we will be heading to Sungai Pisang this 12th of February for Raleigh KL’s February Monthly Meet! But before trekking and dipping at the waterfall (oh yes, that’s our ultimate goal!), we will be doing our bit for the environment – collecting trash. Also, there will be exciting updates from the OC of Post GBB’s yet to be named walk and PIWP reports and announcements!

Here’s the plan.

7.35am: Meet up at Gombak LRT station - Registration

8.00am: All cars leave for Sungai Pisang

(Not 7.59am, not 8.01am. We leave at 8.00am SHARP.)

8.20am: Monthly Meet & Briefing

9.00am: Clean up

11.00am: Short walk to the waterfall

11.45pm: Dip all you want & snacks

1.45pm: The walk back

2.30pm: Depart Sungai Pisang OR Surprise! (Optional)

When is it again? 12th February 2011

What should I bring? A pair of gloves, mess tin.

Do I need to pay? Yes! RM5 for members. RM8 for non-members.

Small token that covers petrol and light snacks.

How do I register? sign up here!

Registration ends 10th February 2011, 11.30pm.

Should you have any queries, do not hesitate to contact Shu Woan at monthlymeet@raleighinternational.org.my

The 2.30pm surprise shall be announced shortly. So, stay tuned! Gong Xi Fa Cai in advance!

Cheers,

Shu Woan

Raleigh KL needs to be sustainable, for now and most importantly, for future generations to come.
And of course, no matter what organisation you are from, funds are needed to run it.

Hence, we want to be BOLD, at least once.
To plan and organise "A Walk", to fund raise for OUR organisation - Raleigh KL.
The first ever pilot project will be launched this year - 2011.

This fund raising event is an inspiration from our regional sister support groups:
Raleigh Hong Kong's Wilson Trail & Raleigh Singapore's "Let's take a Walk".

This meeting will be an open discussion where everyone can attend and be actively involved.
No hierarchy, forget your real age / "Raleigh-age", we just need to start talking to each other and work to make this happen - TOGETHER.

If you are interested in being part of this project (be it contributing ideas, sharing contacts, or just want to know more), we sincerely invite you to come for this meeting.
And also for you to understand the 5 Ws and 1H better.
Why, What, When, Where, Who and How.

Of course, we will also have the usual monthly meeting agenda + a special "Going Beyond Borders" Presentation!

Please register here to confirm your attendance.

Looking forward to see you there !!

Will this make your day?

Posted by Poh-E in

It made mine.

I received a phone call, from a Venturer who have just returned a day ago from Sabah, after their amazing time so well spent in Expedition.

We did a little bit of catch up, and my friend - Shi Han reminded me that she called for a reason:

To help her expedition mate to pass on and share this poem to the Raleigh world.

As much as the few of us could not wait for her email, Shi Han too offered to read out "No Regrets" to us. The "Jam" was something foreign to us, as typically we will call it "Jam" as in "Jem", but our friend pronounced it, "Jam" as in "Jum"... Thanks to Yein for spotting that out and asked, "Shi Han, can I ask you something, What's "Jum" ???" That quietly reminds me that all of us, ex-Venturers somehow has a "Brit-accent", somewhere within us.

And this is it - No Regrets, by Shen Quang Loo, Raleigh 10 J Ex-Venturer

Ex-Venturer,
Feels like a sense of warmth, and a reminiscence of your adventure? Glad to have another group of latest mates to share the jungle stories?

Yet to be Ex-Venturer,
Explore. Engage. Excite <- Quoted from the last Raleigh Asia Regional Conference theme.

Get out there bah!

Almost all post from expeditions have this common trait:

And this time it is from Chong Shi Han!

"...we spent a morning to parang a "tandas" path, but the villager able to parang few hundred meters in the same time." (Editor's note: The power of the local villagers, as usual!)

"In the project site, I do have a lot of great moment. I really enjoy working under the sun, playing with kids and the best moment is when the water coming out from the tap! ^^"

Great job Shi Han! Enjoy the 3rd and final phase, all of you Expedition Borneo 10J Venturers!
