Wanna get down & dirty? MNS Selangor Cave Group Basic Caving  Course 2006

Hi, all friends!

Wanna get down & dirty?

Heard of caving but have yet to try it? Tried your hands at the recent Dark Caves trip and can't get enough of the caves? Is your sense of adventure & curiosity burning? Have you passed by the limestones of Malaysia on the highway and wonder what's inside it?
If so, this is for YOU .... !! :)

Join the MNS Selangor Cave Group on their 11th Annual Basic Caving Course (BCC2006) this May.

This is your chance to learn of the geology, flora & fauna of caves, try out knots tying and also do a spot of abseiling, vertical climbs, crawls while appreciating the cave formations and fauna.  Rest assured that downright dirty is guaranteed.

The Basic Caving Course will be broken into 2 sessions, which are :
Theory    : Sunday , May 21, 9am to 4pm @ MNS Auditorium, Jalan Kelantan, KL
Practical : Friday, May 26 to May 28 @ Kota Gelanggi, Pahang (departure is at 8.30pm from KL on Friday, May 26)

In the theory session, one will be introduced to the wonders of the caves via slides, presentations and sharing sessions. The day will be completed with a hands-on knots trying session (wanna tie up your friend?) and an overview on caving equipment.

The highlight of BCC06 is will be our practical session where we will explore the caves of Kota Gelanggi in Pahang. We will be walking, climbing, crawling, squeezing though horizontal and vertical caves, chambers and squeeze holes, learning of and admiring the caves formation (stalagmites, stalactites, flowstones, curtains, cave pearls and more!) while meeting with the cave fauna (while our favourites are bats, we also come across cave roaches, spiders and a whole lot more depending on your luck!).

Always wanted to go down a rock face? If so, this is your opportunity too as besides caving, you will be able to try abseiling.

What is the cost?
RM300 for MNS members while non MNS members sign up for MNS membership, which cost RM60 for the first year, only for RIKL members. (Normal RM70) We need 10 RIKL members to sign up in order to enjoy the discount.

This will cover meals of 1 lunch & 2 teas for the theory session along with 2 nights accommodation at Tekam Plantation Resort near Jerantut, Pahang,  which includes 2 breakfasts, 1 tea & 1 BBQ dinner for the practical session, along with the group fund and administration fees and d&d insurance.
Transportation is via car-pool.
