Greetings from the new President!

Posted by Poh-E in

Dear all,

Greetings from the President!

Raleigh KL held it's annual general meeting (AGM) in Malacca last weekend. The past committee of 2009/2010 reported the society's accomplishments within their respective office for the previous term, as well as their personal thoughts and hopes.

A new committee for 2010/2011 was elected. We had our first committee meeting just a few hours back and eligible candidate was appointed to be part of the committee. May I present the committee members with the expedition they joined or the Raleigh KL projects they had served in leadership capacity:

President - Tam Kar Lye
Expedition Sabah 07F

Secretary 1 - Christal Loh Pei-Shan
PR Officer 2 08/09, Fundraising Officer 09/10

Secretary 2 / Membership Officer - Farm Woon Chin
Expedition Borneo 08H

Treasurer - Choo Geng Qian
Expedition Borneo 10D (2nd July - 9th September 2010)

Expedition Officer - Koong Hui Yein
Expedition Borneo 09E

PR Officer - Lum Sow Chan (Appointed)
Expedition Borneo 10A

Logistics Officer - Ho Chung Shin
Expedition Borneo 10D (2nd July - 9th September 2010)

Projects Officer - Richard Teh Swee-Aun
Expedition Borneo 09K

Special Skills Officer - Vacant
Introduction Weekend Officer - Vacant
Fundraising Officer - Vacant

We are in the process of identifying candidates for the remaining positions in the committee. Despite not having the full committee in place, the team is all excited and ready for the challenges ahead.

We thank you for the continuous support, especially to all the potential leaders, the second tiers out there who have been with us throughout our Introduction Weekends, Special Projects and Monthly Meetings.

Exciting times ahead as we continue our legacy to send more young Malaysians to Raleigh expedition in the name of youth development.

Understaffed, but definitely not undermined. The Ra-ra-ra spirit lives on. We look forward to cross paths with you again, soon enough.

Best Regards,
Kar Lye

Get Out There!

"Learn strength from the rocks and wisdom from the pines,
the wind can teach you many songs, the starlit sky can be your dreams,
the rushing river your lullaby.
There is so much to learn and we use our time so quickly.
Stand alone and quiet for a moment,
until it becomes day.
Seek to listen and to hear,
strive to watch and to see,
wait for wisdom and remember beauty.
Feel always the joy of living."

Anoynymous

ps: Thank you Anonymous Raleigh-ian for a UK postcard with Australian stamp. Guess who?
