Brief:

Updated 14 May 06
Manage to receive many donations of clothes, stationeries, accessories, toys, kitchenware & random things from friends & RIKL members.
Many RIKL & non-RIKL members helped out before, during & after the event.
Eg:

  1. Transporting our stuff [and our group members (those without transport)]from our “storage home” in TTDI to Mont Kiara.
  2. Help us sell during the event, help us set up the place and clean-up after the event.

Achievement

  1. We are proud of what we had done (the Jumbo Sale).
  2. Got to know a lot more people (the public; RIKL members)
  3. Great start for our first project (Jumbo Sale).
  4. Make more friends.

Other than just the amount of money we manage to raise, we manage to learn as we go along with the project, such as:-

  1. Handling people and communicating with people
  2. Proper planning – no last minute
  3. Meet new people
  4. How to organise a JUMBO SALE project
  5. Brainstorming
  6. Think wise and make wise decision
  7. Set achievable goals and achieve them
  8. Need to have back-up plan(s)
  9. Consult the experts for better understanding & knowledge

Fund Collected from the Jumble Sale

Gross Profit:RM 1 677.80
(-)  Expenses:RM 307.00
. Total Profit:RM 1 370.80

...and donated to
RIKL future projects -(50%) RM 685.40+ RM 27* = RM 712.40
Angels Kids Home-(50%)RM 685.40 – RM52*  = RM633.40

*RM 52 was spend on prepared breakfast for the children during our visit
*RM 27 is additional sales after the project

Updated 25 April 06
In the month of April, we'll be having a jumble sale to fundraising for RIKL.

Volunteers are needed...

Donations of Second Hand Items...

Your junk is cash to us... Please kindly donate anything that you would like to get rid of to us. The items can range from old magazines, wearable second-hand clothes (no rags pls...), electrical appliances, tennis/ badminton racquets, toys, souvenirs (many people have excess of these from their travels), vases, plants and yes, even toothbrush (cheap, unused ones...). Anything sellable is ok with us.

If you know of any companies which you think could donate their items for this event, please direct it our way...

Who are they?
Rumah Kanak- kanak Angels Kuala Lumpur is a home for orphans and abused, abandoned and underprivileged children. The home has 11 Children in total of mixed races between ages 3-12 years but mostly 7 and 8 years old.6 males 5 female.

Address : 126, Jalan Hujan, Gerimis 2, Taman Overseas Union, Wisma Old Klang Road.

Transport
Cars to collect the donated items from various donors before the event AND from our collection place to Acorn Mall on that Sunday (23/4)

Man & Woman-Power
We'll need lots of help! These range from sorting out the items before the jumble sales (tentatively 22/4) to sales person on the day of jumble sales.

Why are we doing this???
The main purpose for this is to fundraise for the overall operational running cost of RIKL. Year in and year out, RIKL will have money flowing out. We have Introduction Weekends to run, flyers and banners to print, activities & projects to organized, as well as the rental of our RIKL storeroom.

Other than that, this will be a very good opportunity for members to learn more about fundraising. Learn about how the public's view is about a youth development society and also sales tactics to persuade others to contribute more. There will be many challenges, but it will be fun at the same time. Come and join to enjoy selling junk while making money for RIKL.

Do sign up by dropping me an e-mail. We'll need all the help that we can get!

Yours truly,

Joe Quah
