Another blog entry by fellow waterfall go-er!

Blogmaster: This post is contributed by Liling Cheah, one of the organisers (alongside with Su Lan) for the Chilling monthly meet. Read on to know what happened at the meeting as well as her experience being part of the organising commitee.

Last month, the April monthly meet was held at Chilling Waterfall, KKB. There were 38
Raleigh and non-Raleigh members present (it seems it was the biggest turn out at a Raleigh monthly meet so far!). We were supposed to leave at 7.30, but as usual, there will always be late comers. With Adrian Yeo barking at my back that he will leave at 7.30 sharp no matter what, we split into 2 groups with Adrian’s group leaving first but arriving at KKB later than the 2nd group because they detoured to the Dam :P

The Selangor Dam

After sorting out signing of indemnity forms and collecting the fees, we had a short ice breaking session. We were divided into 4 groups according to the first letter of our names, and had to pick a member to ‘promote’.

BJ promoting CK, and Adrian is attracted immediately.(CK is the man for all the single girls out there! He has good hands to hold, recommended by pharmacist zhi yong :P)

BJ’s words were so effective, Shih Chung couldn’t help fluttering around~

Just before we were about to start our trek, Adrian Yeo briefed us about the safety measures that should be taken while crossing rivers.

We were separated to 2 teams, Alpha and Bravo with Adrian and Shih Chung as the leaders respectively. Both teams took a different route to the waterfall, with Alpha hiking upwards and Bravo taking the route by the river. There were 6 rivers in total that we had to cross. A few people had their belongings soaked as some of the river currents were quite strong and slightly deep at some areas.

After about an hour plus of trekking, we finally reached the waterfall. Looking at it in the pictures and seeing it there right in front of you gives you a totally different feeling. Just looking at it takes your worries all away. Its like a magnetic pull that makes you want to run to the waterfall and jump in, which is what most of us did.

The first sight of the waterfall!

CK decided to make use of the beautiful surroundings to do a model shot :P

The guys preparing for a jump.

After soaking and jumping of rocks, snacks were served. Those that brought their mess tins started cooking maggi mee and made hot drinks. At the meantime, Lafuma had a short promotion on their gear by describing the characteristics of each different product.

About 1 something, we started our hike down. We were terribly out of schedule, but I guess we got carried away when we saw the waterfall. Just when we reached the base, it started raining.

Being part of the organizing committee with Su Lan, I realized that a lot goes into planning the monthly meet. The toughest task was of course getting people to confirm whether they were going and arranging the transport to KKB (7 cars!). I would like to thank all the drivers for that day, Adrian, Lymun, Wei Ming, Aik Chuan, Alvin, CK, and Shien Jean. To Adrian Yeo that was the lead us throughout the trek while singing through the walkie talkie. And of course to our beloved president, Shih Chung for being…(insert any descriptive word here)

Chilling Waterfall, is definitely THE place to go to unwind :)

  1. FYI: there's only 1 route to the waterfall. And yes, both teams were trekking happily along the same trail that day. Since my group arrived earlier, we went up to the top of the waterfall for pictures. We eventually u-turn-ed back to the bottom of the waterfall where we had such great fun.

    Cheers.

(what sir adrian? it's YB ok!!)
