Caving is a recreational activity of exploring wild cave systems. This activity is fascinated by both extreme sport lovers and nature lovers because not only caving involves challenging physical activities such as climbing, crawling and rappelling but it also enables nature lovers to indulge in the ecosystems of cave wildlife.

Dark Cave of Batu Caves is a place of rich scientific and educational interest. It is known to be the home to world rarest spider called Trapdoor spider (Liphistius batuensis) and also other cave animals for more than 100 million years old. Therefore, it has tremendous ecological significance and is the favorable research place for scientists. Not only that, Dark Cave is open to public to educate public about the cave system, its cave ecosystem and its significance.

A Day at Paya Indah Wetland

Posted by Poh-E in ,

Tree Planting

It was a fascinating day for the Raleigh-ians in the September Monthly Meet, having the chance to indulge with nature. Despite the rain early in the morning, it stopped seconds before the activities started.

What was once nothing but an abandoned tin mining area, it is hard to believe that now it’s the playground for the birds and the bees, and various animals. This is the wonderful place that we had our monthly meet, called Paya Indah Wetland Sanctuary.

We’re here on this lovely weekend to go green and enjoy this lovely environment. After a short briefing and ice breaking session, we were divided into two groups, one went to clean the hippo’s enclosure, while the others to the mouse deer’s enclosure. We were given the chance to clean the pool, disposing the hippos’ poo, washing the enclosure, and feeding them later on. Getting close and enjoying the time with the hippo was really awesome.

Let the photos do the talking:

As lunch time was approaching, all of us got hungry, and thanks to the chefs Marble and C.K., we had our wonderful meal - Spaghetti Carbonara with sausages by the lake side. Eating the warm meal after some hardwork was very rewarding.

Time passed tremendously fast, and here comes our surprised activity - R Version Amazing Race. Taking the advantage of Paya Indah Wetland with large area and various check points, everyone had a hard but fun time running from check point to check point, answering questions and also finishing the tasks.

The weekend spent with Raleigh-ians was indeed awesome. Making new friends from different background, doing awesome stuff and also getting to know people’s life experiences. So, do not miss out the October monthly meet to Get Out There! Register now and you won’t regret making this choice.
